Layla Curtis – The Thames (from London Bridge, Arizona to Sheerness, Canada)
Layla Curtis has re-invented the visual geography of the river by creating an original artwork: a collaged map constructed from cutting and pasting locations from existing international maps and reconstructing them to form the familiar outline of the Thames. The map, which re-imagines the section of the river from the Pool of London at Tower Bridge to Sea Reach at the mouth of the Thames estuary, is made in 10 separate sections.
